What's New
I am very excited that I am able to tell you what's going on in our office.Digital X-rays
As a part of our ongoing effort to provide high quality care, we have upgraded our office technology to include digital x-rays. These images require 75% less radiation exposure and are easily sent to other providers if we refer you to a specialist (endodontist, oral surgeon, etc.).
Periodontal Treatment Protocol
Because periodontal (gum) disease is the leading cause of tooth loss, Dr. Kim and Dr. Castner have made our periodontal treatment protocols more proactive in order to treat gum disease in its earliest stages. At regular 6 month check-up appointments the hygienist will assess each patient's periodontal health. If the pocket depth measurements are increasing and the gum tissue is inflamed, swollen, and red we will recommend two deep cleaning appointments. This procedure is more extensive than a regular cleaning and will help provide an oral environment that can promote healing. Following the deep cleaning appointments, the patient will be seen at 3-4 month intervals for a periodontal maintenance prophy to monitor their progress. If there is no improvement after one year, we will make a referral to a periodontist (gum specialist) for evaluation and treatment.
Last summer our associate dentist, Dr. Teresa Castner, spent several weeks in
Dr. Robert Gidner, who worked with us when Dr. Kim was on maternity leave in 2006, as well as regularly filling in for the doctor's vacations, has agreed to fill the associate position. He will be working in our office on Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Dr. Kim will continue to be in the office on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
